Specbond 32 – Cold Bonding Adhesive

Cold-applied bonding adhesive for rubber-to-metal and rubber-to-rubber applications.

SpecBond 32 is a high-performance, two-part polyurethane adhesive designed for cold bonding rubber to metal or rubber to rubber in industrial applications. With a 2:1 mix ratio and no need for heat or pressure during curing, it offers a reliable solution for chute lining, conveyor lagging, and wear protection installations.

Developed for harsh mining and materials handling environments, SpecBond 32 cold bonding adhesive cures quickly at room temperature, delivering high bond strength, flexibility, and resistance to abrasion, impact, and chemicals. It is suitable for both new installations and on-site repairs, with a 30-minute working time and full cure achieved within 6–8 hours at 25°C.

Trusted by site crews and maintenance teams, SpecBond 32 is ideal for bonding steel, rubber, and other compatible surfaces where durability and performance are critical.

SpecBond 32 is a two-part, cold-applied polyurethane adhesive designed for rubber-to-metal and rubber-to-rubber bonding in demanding industrial environments.

SpecBond 32 is formulated for use in high-wear environments across mining, quarrying, and material handling operations.

Common Applications Include:

  • Rubber lining of chutes, bins, and hoppers
  • Bonding rubber lagging to conveyor pulleys
  • Rubber-to-rubber repairs and splicing
  • Field repairs to rubber linings and wear components
  • General bonding of elastomers to metal surfaces

SpecBond 32 is simple to use on-site and cures at ambient temperature, making it ideal for remote installations or urgent repairs.

Mixing and Application:

  • Mix ratio: 2 parts Base to 1 part Hardener (by volume)
  • Mix thoroughly for 2–3 minutes until uniform in colour
  • Apply to clean, dry, and properly prepared surfaces
  • Use within 30 minutes of mixing (at 25°C)

Curing:

  • Gel time: approx. 15–30 minutes at 25°C
  • Full cure: 6–8 hours at 25°C
  • Maximum strength typically achieved within 24 hours
  • Temperature resistance: -20°C to +80°C once cured

Proper surface prep is essential for achieving full adhesive strength and longevity.

Recommended Preparation:

  • Metal surfaces: Grit-blast to SA 2.5 standard, then degrease using acetone or MEK
  • Rubber surfaces: Roughen with a wire brush or sanding wheel and clean with acetone
  • Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, oil, or contaminants
  • Do not apply in damp, humid, or dusty conditions

Packaging:

  • Supplied in pre-measured kits containing Base and Hardener components
  • Available in various volumes to suit site requirements
