Product Overview

The Martin® H1 Primary Cleaner HD is engineered to provide one of the most cost-efficient cleaning solutions available on the market today. By replacing standard urethane with abrasion-resistant tungsten carbide, this cleaner significantly extends maintenance intervals and reduces the total cost of ownership. It is designed to efficiently remove carryback across a wide range of material types, ensuring your conveyor infrastructure remains protected and site productivity stays high.

The system is highly versatile, featuring blade arms in a variety of sizes to accommodate head pulleys ranging from 250 mm up to 1700 mm. This adaptability, combined with the constant pressure provided by the compression spring tensioner, ensures that the H1 Primary Cleaner HD remains an effective belt scraper throughout the entire lifespan of the tungsten carbide tips.

Applications

The Martin® H1 Primary Cleaner HD is specifically suited for high-tonnage mining and industrial applications handling abrasive materials on high-speed conveyor belts.

It is engineered for use on head pulleys with diameters ranging from 250 mm to 1700 mm and can effectively clean belts with widths up to 2500 mm. The system is rated for high-performance operation at belt speeds of up to 7.5 m/s, providing a robust solution for most material types. However, please note that tungsten carbide tips are not recommended for conveyors equipped with mechanical fasteners or belts with significant cover damage.

How the H1 Primary Cleaner HD Works

The system operates by installing the H1 cleaner in the primary position against the head pulley. A compression spring tensioner applies a constant radial force to the mainframe, ensuring that the tungsten carbide tips remain in firm contact with the belt surface at all times. As the belt passes over the pulley, the blades “shave” carryback material into the discharge stream.

Because the tensioner is designed to compensate for blade wear automatically, it maintains consistent cleaning pressure with minimal manual intervention. The individual blade arms allow the cleaner to maintain contact across the full width of the belt, even during undulations, while the precision-cast stainless steel construction prevents the unit from seizing or corroding in harsh conditions.

FAQs

Tungsten carbide is used for its superior abrasion resistance. In primary cleaning applications, it provides two to three times the wear life of conventional urethane blades, making it a more cost-effective choice for heavy-duty sites.

No. Tungsten carbide tips are not recommended for conveyor belts equipped with mechanical fasteners or belts with significant cover damage, as these can snag and damage the cleaner or the belt.

No. The system utilises a compression spring tensioner that maintains consistent cleaning pressure throughout the life of the blades, which significantly minimises the need for manual adjustments on-site.

The H1 series is highly adaptable and can be fitted to head pulleys ranging from 250 mm to 1700 mm in diameter.
