CleanScrape® Secondary Cleaner

An all-stainless steel assembly designed for superior belt cleaning in the most challenging conditions. Featuring independent, carbide-tipped blades supported by spring-loaded arms, this system provides equalised pressure and exceptional versatility for high-performance conveyor operations.

INDEPENDENT BLADE MOTION

Each 152 mm wide blade operates on spring-loaded arms that allow rotation and vertical movement, ensuring the cleaner conforms to ever-changing belt undulations.

FREE FLOW DESIGN

The streamlined arm construction allows removed material to pass through the assembly and return to the main flow, preventing build-up on the cleaner itself.

ALL-STAINLESS STEEL CONSTRUCTION

Built for longevity in harsh environments, the full stainless steel assembly provides maximum resistance to corrosion and chemical attack.

Product Overview

The Martin® CleanScrape® Secondary Cleaner represents a significant advancement in secondary belt cleaning technology. By utilising independent blade segments with high-durability carbide tips, the system maintains consistent contact across the entire belt width, even as the center of the belt wears over time. This is further supported by a crowned mainframe design that specifically compensates for center-belt wear to prevent carryback bypass.

This system is engineered for low-maintenance reliability, requiring less frequent tensioning over its lifespan compared to traditional secondary scrapers. Its unique arcing movement makes it exceptionally safe for use on reversing belts or in the event of belt rollback, protecting the belt surface from damage while maintaining cleaning efficiency. Whether installed inside or outside the discharge chute, the CleanScrape® Secondary Cleaner provides a robust, easy-to-adjust solution for sites aiming to eliminate carryback and reduce site maintenance costs

Applications

The Martin® CleanScrape® Secondary Cleaner is the primary choice for heavy-duty mining and industrial sites requiring high-performance cleaning in corrosive or underground environments. This versatile system is capable of operating in extreme service temperatures of up to 315°C and is safe for use on reversing belts or systems prone to roll-back.

It is engineered for belt widths ranging from 450 mm to 2400 mm and can handle belt speeds of up to 5 m/s for vulcanised splices and 3 m/s for systems utilising mechanical splices.

How the CleanScrape® Secondary Cleaner Works

The system operates by supporting each independent blade segment on spring-loaded arms at both ends. These load springs allow for a unique range of motion: the blades can rotate forward and backward as well as move vertically. This allows the cleaner to absorb obstructions—such as mechanical splices—while maintaining equalised load pressure across each blade.

As the belt undulates during travel, the spring arms ensure the carbide tips never lose contact with the surface. In the event of reversing belt direction, the arms are designed to arc safely, allowing the belt to move in either direction without snagging or damaging the cleaner or the belt itself.

Operational Benefits

  • Crowned Mainframe

Automatically compensates for belt wear in the centre to maintain 100% cleaning coverage.

  • Low Pressure Cleaning

Achieves optimum results with minimal blade-to-belt pressure, extending the life of both the blade and the belt.

  • Easy Cartridge Removal

Designed for rapid servicing, allowing maintenance teams to swap blades quickly and reduce downtime.

  • Mechanical Splice Friendly

The flexible, spring-loaded arm design safely handles mechanical splices without snagging.

FAQs

The design ensures that material removed from the belt does not become trapped in the cleaner arms. Instead, it falls through the assembly and returns to the main material flow, reducing build-up and the need for frequent cleaning of the unit.

Yes. The spring-loaded arms allow the blades to arc safely in the event of reversing belt direction or rollback, preventing damage to the belt or the cleaner.

The stainless steel assembly provides maximum durability and resistance to corrosive conditions, making it ideal for harsh mining and industrial environments where standard steel components might fail.

No. The system is engineered to provide a vibration-free rolling action, which protects the conveyor structure and ensures consistent belt contact.

Independent blades allow the cleaner to conform more accurately to the belt surface, particularly as the belt wears or undulates. This ensures consistent pressure across the full width for better cleaning results.
