QC1™ Cleaner XHD STS™

The Martin® QC1™ Cleaner XHD STS™ (Extra Heavy Duty, Safe-to-Service™) is specifically designed to handle the most demanding belt cleaning tasks while ensuring maximum worker safety.

CONFINED SPACE SAFETY

Eliminates the requirement for Confined Space Permits by allowing all blade service to be performed from the operator side, outside of the chute.

CARP TECHNOLOGY

Features a patented Constant-Angle/Constant-Area Radial Pressure (CARP) design, ensuring consistent and effective cleaning throughout the entire life of the blade.

XHD PERFORMANCE

Engineered for Extra Heavy Duty applications, utilising a stainless steel mandrel and high-performance urethane manufactured in-house for superior quality control.

Product Overview

The Martin® QC1™ Cleaner XHD STS™ is the ultimate solution for large-scale conveyor operations that prioritise both high-performance material recovery and stringent safety standards. By moving the service plane to the exterior of the conveyor structure, this system prevents injuries and keeps workers out of hazardous zones during routine maintenance.

The “Safe-to-Service” design turns what was once a complex, high-risk task into a fast and easy procedure. With its rugged stainless steel mandrel and heavy-duty construction, the XHD STS™ is built to withstand the extreme forces of high-speed, wide-belt conveyor systems. Whether you are dealing with abrasive ores or high-tonnage throughput, this cleaner provides a lower total cost of ownership by extending blade life and drastically reducing the time required for blade changes.

Applications

The Martin® QC1™ Cleaner XHD STS™ is specifically engineered for extra heavy-duty primary cleaning on large-scale conveyor systems in demanding mining and industrial settings, including underground and corrosive environments. This robust system is designed to operate reliably in service temperatures ranging from -34°C to 149°C and remains fully functional during reversing cycles or roll-back conditions.

It provides high-efficiency cleaning for belt widths up to 3000 mm (120 inches) and is rated for belt speeds of up to 6.1 m/s on pulley diameters between 600 mm and 760 mm.

How the QC1™ Cleaner XHD STS™ Works

The system operates by allowing the entire blade cartridge to slide out from the stainless steel mandrel for external servicing. To replace a blade, the operator simply disengages the tensioner and pulls the blade cartridge outside of the conveyor structure. A quick-release pin is removed to swap the worn blade for a new one, after which the cartridge is pushed back into position.

Once the quick-release pin is re-secured and the tensioner is engaged, the cleaner returns to its optimal operating state. This 6-step process ensures that the patented CARP blade design maintains consistent pressure and a perfect cleaning angle without the operator ever needing to break the safety plane of the chute.

Operational Benefits

  • Operator-Side Adjustment

All tensioning and tracking adjustments are made from the operator side, further enhancing site safety.

FAQs

The process is a simple 6-step procedure performed from the operator side:

  • 1. Disengage tensioner
  • 2. Pull blade cartridge outside
  • 3. Remove quick-release pin and blade
  • 4. Replace blade
  • 5. Push cartridge back into position
  • 6. Engage the tensioner.

Because the “Safe-to-Service” (STS) design allows the blade cartridge to be pulled completely outside the conveyor chute for maintenance, there is no need for personnel to enter the hazardous internal areas of the transfer point.

Yes. The Martin® QC1™ Cleaner XHD STS™ is fully compatible with reversing belts and roll-back conditions, ensuring protection in both directions of travel.

To suit different material types and chute widths, the cleaner is available with Solid, Slit, Segmented, or Slit & Segmented blades, all of which can be colour-coded to match specific application needs.
