SHD 600 Series Cleaner

Designed for the most punishing environments, the Martin® SHD 600 Series is a rugged primary belt cleaner that delivers mine-grade performance for pulleys smaller than 1200 mm (48 inches).

EXTREME STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY

Constructed from heavy-duty structural steel to prevent mainframe bending, even when subjected to high tonnages and large material lumps.

MAXIMUM WEAR SURFACE

Features massive urethane blades providing up to 305 mm (12 inches) of wear life—offering significantly more wearable surface than standard cleaner designs.

PATENTED CARP TECHNOLOGY

Utilises Constant Angle Radial Pressure (CARP) technology to maintain an effective cleaning angle and consistent performance throughout every stage of the blade’s life.

Product Overview

The Martin® SHD 600 Series Cleaner was developed to bridge the gap between standard cleaning systems and the extreme requirements of high-capacity mining operations. By designing the cleaner and its tensioning system in tandem, Martin Engineering has achieved a primary scraper that delivers consistent pressure with drastically reduced service requirements.

This system is specifically engineered to improve maintenance planning by reducing emergency outages and repairs. With a focus on durability, the SHD 600 series handles the fastest and most heavily loaded belts, ensuring that material is recovered efficiently while protecting the conveyor belt and its splices from premature wear.

Applications

The Martin® SHD 600 Series is the primary choice for super heavy-duty mining and industrial settings where high belt speeds and massive material volumes are the norm.

This system is specifically designed for conveyors with head pulley diameters between 600 mm and 1200 mm (24–48 inches) and is safe for use on belt widths up to 3000 mm (120 inches). It operates reliably at belt speeds up to 7.5 m/s (1500 fpm) and can withstand extreme service temperatures ranging from -34°C to 149°C (-30°F to 300°F).

How the SHD 600 Series Works

The system operates by pairing a heavy-duty structural steel beam with the Martin® SHD Spring Link Tensioner to apply constant force against the discharge pulley.

As the 305 mm tall urethane blade wears down, the patented CARP design ensures the contact area remains consistent, preventing the efficiency drop-off seen in standard blades.

The Turnbuckle Tensioners, installed on both sides of the head pulley, allow for precise manual adjustment to match the specific geometry of the conveyor structure, ensuring the blade stays perfectly aligned for mine-grade cleaning.

FAQs

The 600 series is specifically designed for head pulleys smaller than 1200 mm (48 inches) in diameter. If your pulley is larger than 1200 mm, the SHD 1200 series is the correct choice to ensure constant angle geometry.

Yes. The SHD series was originally developed for severe-duty mining applications, including overburden at some of the largest pit mines in the world. The structural steel frame prevents bending even under these extreme conditions.

Blades are available in various colour-coded formulations. Standard orange is suitable for most abrasive conditions, while brown is specifically engineered for improved resistance to chemicals and moisture.

The SHD 600 is available with Turnbuckle Tensioners to be installed on both sides of the head pulley to maintain proper cleaning pressure.
